Pour approximately 10 oz. (300 ml) of water onto the bottom of the empty oven and close the oven door.
When a range model has a self-cleaning cycle, it is usually denoted on the control panel and in the product manual, but it also has a locking handle on the oven door. If you’re not sure if your oven has such a feature and there’s no locking handle, your oven does not have this feature and you must clean it manually.
Electric ovens tend to be cheaper upfront, and installation is much simpler than natural gas ovens. However, gas ovens tend to have cheaper long-term operating costs, since gas is usually cheaper than electricity.
If heavy soil exists, we recommend the use of the Self-Clean cycle to thoroughly clean the oven. If you prefer to only hand clean the oven, a scouring pad (steel wool or plastic) may be used. Rub soiled areas lightly to prevent scratching into the oven liner surface. Do not use scouring powders.
Approximately how long does a Samsung oven’s self-cleaning cycle last? It will take 3 hours. Once for a 3-hour clean time, twice for a 5-hour clean time, or three times for a 2-hour clean time, select Self Clean from the menu. The default time is set to three hours.
Do not clean burner grates by heating them at high heat in the oven or by leaving them in the oven during Self-Clean mode. Do not clean burner grates in the dishwasher.
For best results, make a thin paste of 3/4 cup baking soda and 1/4 cup warm water. Remove oven racks, then coat the inside with the paste and leave it on overnight. In the morning, scrape off the paste, wipe out the oven with a damp towel and voilaa pristine oven.
First and foremost, don’t leave your oven unattended during self-cleaning. You should plan to be in your home for the entire duration of the cleaning cycle to keep an eye on it and make sure everything is operating as planned. The next most important rules for oven self-cleaning involve ventilation.
Press the Self Clean pad. Close the oven door. Slide the latch to lock the oven door. Hit the Clear/Off or Cancel button immediately.
The self-clean cycle uses above-normal cooking temperatures to automatically clean the oven interior. Do not force the oven door or lock lever open. This may result in exposure to high temperatures and be a burn hazard.
The method: Mix up a 1:3 water-to-baking soda paste and spread it generously all over the surface of the grates. Let it sit for 10 to 20 minutes then scrub a bit with a sponge and rinse in warm soapy water. Pat dry.
We do not recommend leaving the oven racks in the oven during the self-clean cycle. The racks may warp and discolor due to the extreme heat created during this cycle. The racks can also damage the rack guides of the porcelain oven cavity due to expansion and contraction.
The main difference between a self-cleaning oven and a steam cleaning oven is the steam cleaning function only heats your oven to about 250 degrees Fahrenheit, while the self-cleaning function requires your oven to heat to 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit.
Dip a stiff-bristled nylon scrub brush in the hot, soapy water and scrub the grates. If there are any food particles that won’t come off, sprinkle the damp grates with baking soda to act as a mild abrasive. Keep scrubbing until all of the grime is removed. Do not allow the uncoated cast iron grates to soak.
You can use the stovetop while your oven is self-cleaning, as long as you have a newer model of range and it is electric, not gas. Of course, you can always play it safe by waiting until the oven has finished the self-cleaning cycle before cooking on the stovetop.
