Wrap the foil around your pizza, tenting the top so it stays off the pizza. Place your foil packet on a metal cooking grate above the coals. Let the campfire pizza heat for about 10 or 15 minutes, rotating it every few minutes to ensure it’s cooked evenly over the campfire’s inconsistent heat.

Although wood-fired ovens have gained a lot of attention in recent years, those who prefer coal pizza ovens stand fast in the assertion that their cooking method is best. Most would say it comes down to personal preference. Some would even dare say there’s really no difference, but that’s simply not true.
These are just a few of the many reasons it is a much better idea to avoid using house bricks and pavers for the inside of pizza ovens. You can always use standard bricks around the outside and for building the stand -in fact we recommend it, as standard bricks are actually better in wet weather.
Gas offers high temperatures like wood ovens do, but it allows you to cook without the need for wood or the production of ash and soot, making it the cleaner option. Many gas ovens also provide a cooking area that’s slightly larger than a wood oven.
Most offer prefab, modular units that cost at least half as much as a custom build. “I’ve put in custom fire pits that cost as much as $7,000 just for the pit,” Rogers says. That means the patio cost even more.
The height should be built to suit your personal operational preference. If you follow the above dimensions once the 6cm-oven cooking floor is added to your base, the oven will sit at a working height of 110cm from floor level. This is considered optimum for an operator of about 170/175cm tall.
For a simple, square outdoor fireplace, you’ll need around 100-150 bricks. However, if you want to build a more intricate design, you may need up to 500 bricks. Be sure to factor in the cost of mortar and other materials when calculating the total cost for your project.
