What is a Minute Minder? The minute minder on certain models of freestanding cookers is a very useful device as this is when you can set a time for your oven between 23.59 hours and 1 minute and after the elapsed time that you have set is up, a bell or ringing tone will be set off to let you know.

Push in and turn the selected gas burner control knob to the full flame symbol or for oven burners, the maximum temperature setting. Keep the control knob depressed. As soon as the selected burner ig- nites release the ignition button. Continue to hold the control knob in for up to 15 seconds then release.

This indicates that the oven has been set to automatically turn on and off at a specified time. You will need to reset it if you want to use the oven in manual mode.

With the oven off, press the oven time button ( ) for 3 seconds. This takes you to Clock Setting mode. The time will flash on the display (at the first power-on, it displays 12:00). Use the + and – buttons to set the time.

Keep the appliance door closed when using the grill. Never grill with the appliance door open as leaving the door open causes excessive heat to the fascia which may melt the appliance knobs. Place the food to be grilled on the wire rack.

You will find the model number on a sticker or rating plate. For cookers and ovens this can usually be found around the frame, behind the door of the appliance. For hobs this can usually be found on the underside, side or back of the appliance.

To cancel the auto-cooking programme before or after auto cooking starts, press the Cook Time (2) and the Stop Time (3) buttons together. This will return the cooker to manual operation.

Fan bake. A fan symbol on its own, or with a horizontal line at top and bottom, means the fan, as well as both top and bottom elements will be on. Fan bake is good for most cooking, particularly when using more than one rack. It allows food to cook faster and at a lower temperature.

Open the top oven / grill door. Turn the top oven control knob past the oven temperature markings to either the single economy grill symbol, or the dual grill symbol. The grill regulator – to the left of the top oven control – must then be switched on.

Grill. The symbol is simply a zigzag line at the top of a square. Using the full grill allows you to cook food for virtually your whole family plus guests. There may also be a half-grill setting, which means only the centre of the grill element gets hot.

How do I re set the clock? To set it: Press the CLOCK pad, then press the CANCEL pad. Use the number pads to enter the correct time. Press the CLOCK pad again to confirm the set time.
