Who owns Westinghouse?

One of the most storied names in the American power industry, Westinghouse was acquired by Brookfield Business Partners, an affiliate of Canadian asset manager Brookfield (BAMa. TO), in 2018 for $4.6 billion, including debt, from Toshiba Corp (6502. T).

Today, appliances bearing the White-Westinghouse name are still made by Electrolux under license from Paramount Global through its Westinghouse brand management subsidiary.

Extra shifts are being rostered at the Electrolux Cooking Products plant as demand for the new Australian Made Westinghouse 90cm oven range exceeds company expectations. The ovens are the biggest and most sophisticated ever built and designed at the plant.

It consistently lagged behind the General Electric Company in sales of home appliances, however, and basically ceased competing in that market in 1975. In the decades after World War II, Westinghouse became a leading maker of commercial nuclear reactors and also produced reactors for U.S. Navy submarines.
