Hello fswkeys, unfortunately there isn’t a way to disable the express cook feature on the unit. To enter the desired time, you will press the time cook button followed by the amount of time then hit the Start button.
Your GE Microwave may not be heating up due to a complicated electrical problem. It can be due to a defect in one of the parts, a burnt-out magnetron or capacitor, or even a blown fuse inside the microwave. You should not attempt to fix your microwave unless you are a professional.
Express Cook offers a quick “shortcut” for starting the microwave. Simply touch a number pad from 1 to 5 and the microwave will start instantly (models made before 1994 require that you press Start).
With heat blowing from the back of your range, true convection is much more even for optimal cooking and baking results. Depending on the food you’re cooking and the temperature your recipes calls for, you can sometimes reduce cooking time by up to 20 percent.
Combination Fast Bake/Cooking cooks food about 25% faster on average. To use, you set the temperature and a cook time as outlined in the Owner’s Manual.
While you should be good at using aluminum foil for cooking with convection, you shouldn’t wrap the foil around the food for microwaving. That is because aluminum blocks the waves from reaching the dish, leaving it undercooked. Where microwaving is concerned, aluminum foil is also a fire hazard.
Helpful Expert Reply: I verified with Furrion and there’s no need to take any of the turntable parts out when convection cooking with their microwave # FMCM15SS.
Metal cookware should not be used in a microwave. Metal will not allow microwaves to penetrate the food so any food behind the metal will not be cooked. The metal could also cause arcing in the oven.
The “FOOD” or “Insert Food” message on the display means the microwave thinks food has not been added yet. To correct the issue, open and close the door again and press START.
Check if your model has a Power Saver feature. The Clock will disappear from the display panel one minute after the microwave has not been in use and remains off until the microwave is used again when the Power Saver feature is on.
