Are microwaves worth repairing?
If a microwave fuse keeps blowing, it may be because the fuse is not being installed correctly or that the wrong type of fuse is being installed. Microwave parts like door switches or the magnetron, if defective or wrongly installed, will also cause microwave fuses to continuously blow.
This high voltage powers the magnetron to heat the food. If the diode burns out, the magnetron won’t receive enough voltage to operate, preventing the microwave from heating. When the diode fails, it is often visibly burned out. Inspect the diode and if the diode is burned out, replace it.
Microwaves can stop responding due to software glitches or unintended microwave settings. Press the cancel/reset button to do a soft reset on your microwave. If necessary, perform a hard reset by unplugging your microwave for 30 minutes, then plug it back in.
In the most common scenario, your microwave will start up and run with no issue. This verifies that nothing that takes just 120 volts like your door switches and electronic control is causing the issue. WARNING: Do not attempt unless you have training in appliance repair.
First, unplug the appliance. The fuse is more than likely located just inside the cabinet near the cord as it enters the microwave oven casing. Remove the little door and check the fuse. If it looks scorched or rattles obviously, then replace the fuse.
For warranty repairs you will need to present the service centre with a copy of your receipt or Panasonic extended warranty certificate (warranty terms and conditions apply). Items such as Personal Care, DECT telephones and Headphones which are faulty can be exchanged within the warranty period.

Fuses are located in many places inside the microwave, including the top, side, and behind the vent grille. Using the wiring diagram can help you locate the appropriate fuse. Once you have located the fuse, remove any necessary wires and fasteners to free it from the microwave.
Magnetrons are capable of generating extremely high frequencies and also short bursts of very high power. They are an important source of power in radar systems and in microwave ovens.

If your microwave is relatively new and the repair costs less than replacing it, the fix is worth it. But are microwaves worth repairing if something major is broken? Probably not. Consider getting a replacement appliance for about $100, which should work for 7 to 10 years.
