Your outdoor grill should be an extension of your indoor kitchen. Anything you can bake in your indoor kitchen oven casseroles, pies, brownies, pizza, coffee cake — can be baked on a gas or charcoal grill, and you don’t need to adjust the recipes.
Our Mediterrani Barbecue range are all compatible with a specially designed pizza oven insert which can be fitted into the grilling area for cooking homemade pizza on your BBQ. Great fun for all the family and tasty too!
Preheat the oven to a high temperature (400500F), allowing the grill pan to heat inside the oven. Then, place vegetables on the pan and grill until cooked through. For added flavor, brush your vegetables with olive oil or a marinade before and during the grilling process.
Pizza stones are absolutely worth it, more affordable than steels and easy to work with. If you clean them properly and are careful not to drop them, they’ll also last you a long time. The only real downside is that they’re a bit unwieldy, lugging one around your kitchen is no one’s favourite task.
Place pizza steel on the grill all the way to one side. Ignite all the burners that don’t sit under the steel and preheat 20-25 minutes. At 20-25 minutes, turn on the burner(s) below the steel to medium flame. Preheat another 10 minutes until steel is 450-500F.
The oven is ready to use. The manual comes with instructions to put the oven on a gas barbecue before turning it on, or onto a charcoal barbecue once it is lit. We used charcoal and this was easy to do.

The key to using a pizza stone on a charcoal grill is to keep most of the charcoal positioned under this area that is adjacent to the pizza stone. If you load up the charcoal directly under the stone, the stone will be about 800-900 degrees and the dome temperature will register about 350.
If you use a grill to make pizza, you can keep the heat outside where it belongs. Grills also better mimic a wood fired oven than your conventional indoor oven. Whether using charcoal or gas, the smoke from the grill will help give your pizza great flavor that you simply cannot get from a regular oven. It’s also easy!
In general, the average cost of a home pizza oven will run you anywhere from $150 to as high as $5,000 depending upon what type of pizza oven you’re wanting.
Unwrap packaging, remove cardboard and don’t let the pizza thaw. Place frozen pizza on the gas grill. Close the lid to ensure the temperature stays at 400 degrees. Grill 15 to 20 minutes.
Put the pizza pan on your gas grill rack and bake for approximately 15 minutes. Rotate once. It’s ready when the underside of the crust is golden brown. As hard as it may be to wait, let your grilled pizza creation cool for a few minutes before cutting it into squares or pie shapes.
If you are cooking pizzas in your outdoor oven, you need the oven to be around 450F. This is the ideal cooking time for the perfect pizza and once heated, your oven should be able to cook pizzas in less than a minute.
While a pizza stone won’t make your oven hotter, it can definitely work to help simulate the cooking environment found inside a wood-fired brick oven.
